I will be posting travel updates to this site from now on. My South American motorcycle adventure has taken a twist. Getting rear ended in Lima and breaking my leg has meant that I have had to end my ride report over at ADVrider.com and now will be updating my travels here. When your travels take a different direction it is important to remain flexible and look at your options. With a broken leg I can't ride a motorcycle but I can drive a car. Sort of. Because my right leg is broken and in a boot, I have to sling my leg over the console and operate the gas and brake with my left foot. It took a little getting used to but after renting an automatic Toyota Yaris compact with unlimited miles, I have gotten the hang of it in the last couple days. Rush hour traffic getting out of Lima was trial by fire. The drivers in Peru are the worst in Latin America. Cutting in front of you. The three wheeled taxis skittering left and right like nervous goats. It really takes all of your concentration in the congested cities. more later.....
